I really like the Tooks - they are so full of adventure, and they face adversity bravely and with level heads. But the one who really kept it all together was Samwise Gamgee. If it were not for him, Frodo would have lost it well before Mt. Doom. His will was strong, and even for an uneducated hobbit, he had one heck of a lot more sense than some of the others. He was rooted firmly in the Shire (no pun intended), but his loyalty was so strong he went on that dangerous journey to Mordor with his master. If loyalty, sense, tradition mean as much as bravery and adventure, then the Gamgees get my vote. (But I still think Tooks are OK too)
