Alternative Cast For Hobbits
I think PJ could have considered better the casts for the hobbits. Danny DeVito could have made an excellent Frodo. Weeman probably could have portrayed Pippin quite well. Maybe even Weeman or MiniMe could have appeared?

Danny Devito?! No offense, but are you nuts, or is this supposed to be funny? Wait, I forgot which Forum I was in for a second.

I think Swartzenagger would fit in nicely as a big, buff Sam
![]() How about Frankie Munoz for Frodo? Leondardo DeCaprio for Pippin? And of course Michael J. Fox for Merry! |

I seriously cannot imagine anyone else playing these lovable characters. Personally, I think the casting for the Hobbits was perfect & nobody could've played these roles any better. Of course, I could be biased, because Sean Astin has always been one of my favorite actors. But really, I don't think any other actors could've pulled it off and made it as believable as these guys did.

Oh thank you hookbill that has displaced my enduring mental image of Graham Norton Mister Frodoing...... Blessed Brian booming....
I would have liked Bill Nighy to reprise his role as Sam..... (BBC Radio Version) alongside the divine Hugh.... anti-typoe casting to have extremely tall thin hobbits!!!! lol and short fat elves.... yes.. Danny DeVito as Legolas

I think that Brian Blessed would do well as a Dwarf, Thorin if The Hobbit ever comes to be.
![]() Perhaps Rowan Atkinson as Frodo! Now that would be cool!

How about Clint Eastwood as Aragorn?

Per Danny DeVito references above:
Taxi cast Reverend Jim---Legolas Louie DePalma---Gimli Latka/Vegas Vic--Smeagol/Gollum (my favorite casting) ![]() Alex---Aragorn Tony (Danza)---Boromir Nardo---Eowyn Simka---Galadriel or Goldberry (picture Carol Kane in her role as one of the ghosts in the movie Scrooged) Princess Bride cast Gandalf---Miracle Max Eomer---Inigo Montoya Fezzik (Andre the Giant)---Treebeard Saruman---Vizzini Arwen---Princess Buttercup Elrond---Peter Falk (the grandfather role) Mouth of Sauron---Count Rugen King of the Dead---Prince Humperdinck (well, they were both a bit not overly brave) Wormtongue---The albino

I think that I should have been cast as Frodo. Peter Jackson should have consulted me before he made his film!

Tuor, I can see it now: Éomer confronting Saruman and saying, "Hello. My name is Éomer son of Éomund. You killed my cousin. Prepare to die!"
![]() Personally, I think that Patrick Stewart would have made a good Gandalf. In fact, we could do up a whole Next Generation casting with no trouble (tribble? ![]() Gandalf - Captain Picard Aragorn - Riker Galadriel - Counselor Troi Gimli - Worf Elrond - Data Frodo - Wesley Crusher Sam - Jeordi Merry - That guy who's always so nervous (what's his name again??) Pippin - Alexander (Worf's son) Boromir - Nameless Redshirt #37-J Éowyn - Doctor Crusher Saruman - Q And if they ever do a live-action Hobbit, they have to (HAVE TO!!) get Brian Blessed as Thorin, John Rhys-Davies as Beorn (why pass up all that talent??) and Sean Connery as...some Dwarf, it doesn't matter which (perhaps Dáin), or maybe as Bard? And Christian Slater as Thranduil.
