I sang at a wedding in the midwest a few years back, and the father of the bride insisted that I promise to return to sing at his own funeral. Fortunately he seemed quite healthy at the time.And yet, in the Rohirric culture it's expected that relatives sing laments and dirges over their lost ones. I can't imagine singing at the funeral of someone I grew up with and who was like a brother to me. I suspect I would disintegrate.
