Fascinating, Elenna. Boromir was my favorite character for years. At least twenty-five.

I loved his repentance in the glade at Amon Hen. And I felt that his temptation and fall was due partly to his pride and desire for reknown, but much more so to his understanding of how desperate Minas Tirith's plight had become, and how desperately he loved his city. I think that the ring got an "in" via his concern for the city first. Then once it became the last hope in his eyes to save his city, it worked on his pride, and had him at last.

In a backwards sort of way, I've always loved him for that.
