Your favorite LOTR character?
Legolas,Frodo,Sam,Gandalf,Aragorn...? Who is your favorite character and why?
|
Legolas because he is Sexy,Hott,Fine,Delicious and mine!!!!
|
I like Legolas for all the obvious reasons and I like Gollum. Gollum just seems like a cool character and I'm sure in TTT he's going to be cute and slimey! Legolas is very smart(mostly in the book), graceful, has killer aim, he's an Elf, and he's not bad looking( )!
|
Merry!
he's just "me" i also like frodo, though he's a little too solemn for me. and legolas, he's the "warrior" oh!, and of course everbody's favorite... PIPPIN!!!! but Merry's the 1 4 me! |
I've got so many diffrent ones. Like Boumber, and Tom Bombadil, and Sam!!!! There all so COOL!!!!!
|
I like gollum, the nazgul, bill the pony, shadowfax, and all the other horses.

the nazgul then gollum.
(wonders how many threads like this there are...) |
Boromir. He is actually a person, not just a caricature or epitome of elvish hotness.
|
Fascinating, Elenna. Boromir was my favorite character for years. At least twenty-five.
I loved his repentance in the glade at Amon Hen. And I felt that his temptation and fall was due partly to his pride and desire for reknown, but much more so to his understanding of how desperate Minas Tirith's plight had become, and how desperately he loved his city. I think that the ring got an "in" via his concern for the city first. Then once it became the last hope in his eyes to save his city, it worked on his pride, and had him at last. In a backwards sort of way, I've always loved him for that. |
Boromir - He was the 'every essence' of human nature in the tale.
He brought 'realism' to the ethereal fellowship. Eowyn - Ahem! |
Aragorn for obvious reasons! Excellent fighter, a fine actor (from the movie), a killer sword, he is a ranger, and he is the freakin' king!
|
I liked Frodo and and Legolas, for obvious reasons, but I loved Merry and Pippins friendship and sense of humour! As for my favourite female, that would be Galadriel because she's got so much history and she's so wise. Eomer is my favourite Man because he was very brave and also really loved his sister. Thats all I have to say!

I loved Boromir the best - mark12_30 summed up why I love Boromir perfectly!
I liked a lot of the others as well. I really liked Gandalf, Eomer, Merry & Pippin too. |
Pippin is definatly the best! I'm TOTALLY and COMPLETELY in LOVE with him! His sense of humour is the best and i just love his personality!!!!!!
Yeah Legolas is hott but he can't make me laugh like Pip can! (i mean, just look at my signature...) |
My absolute favorite character is Legloas. Obviously.
My favorite: Hobbit- Pippin Man- Aragorn Female- Arwen And of course I love all the horses! |
I've always liked Faramir. He uses better judgement than most of the other characters. Legolas is a cool warrior, but he has no tough decisions to make. And Boromir made the wrong decisions. Faramir is wise and Fair. Faramir's the Man!

It seems that not many people are obsessed with sam, as i am. he's so faithful and I love to read the part were he talks to the "dead" Frodo "dont leave me here alone!" i knew frodo wasnt dead but i still cry when i read it.
|
Pippin and Merry are at the top of my list. Mainly because I realized I'm the most like them. I enjoy song and eating. I'm pretty clumsy too, (much like the wonderful Pippin) and they're dang funny.
Next comes Theoden, Eomer, and Eowyn. I love Rohan and all the people in it. At first it was because they are the Horselords and I love horses, but I also admire them. They are strong and loyal and I'd love to live amoung them. |
My fav characters:
Gandalf: because he's so wise and powerful, but still he's so down to earth. He's got humour and appreciates the simple things; like hobbits! Gollum: He's kind off evil, although he can't help it. It's a bit scary to see how he ends up after being corrupted by the Ring. Pippin: Because he doesn't quite understand the war and all the evil. You know: 'why can't we all live in peace?' Legolas: Because he's so darn hot! ~*~Míriel~*~ |
Whoopee for unexpected Boromir support!
Boromir was really an emotional being. |
My favorite in Lord of the Rings is Faramir, because he is the one who I connect with the most.
But if we're talking Tolkien on a broader scale, I must say Fingolfin. He challenged Morgoth for the lives of his people, even knowing that he might fail. And he kept fighting, when he could have run to safety. If that isn't an example of bravery, I don't know what is, even though his decision was, as Fangorn would say, a bit hasty. I also want to say that although these two come out on top for me, there isn't one character in LotR who I didn't like. Tolkien wrote his characters amazingly well. |
Treebeard for me. So ancient, clever, sad, happy, friendly, powerful and funny.
|
Denethor, obviously. I feel for him. And we connect.
Second to that, Finduilas. I identify with her more than any other character. Other: Faramir. I'm actually more similar to him than I previously recognised. I'm a bit of a disappointment to my family as well. I'm also a sucker for Imrahil. I just adore him. And Forlong the Fat. He amuses me. And I suppose Boromir as well. He's a rather nice fellow. Why oh why do I like so many of them? Makes it awfully hard to choose. Maybe I can just simplify it to 'anything Gondorian'. And with a pulse. That rules Denethor out then.... |
I feel that Sam and I are like parallels of each other, more and more lately. If I was sucked into LOTR, I would be Sam.
I like Legolas from the book because he's a great aim, and seems so wise. The movie Legolas for above mentioned reasons :p . Aragorn because he's a great leader, and hot in the movie. Even without baths. Pip and Merry bacause of that wonderful friendship. Tom Bombadillo, all the horses, people of Rohan, Gimil and of course Gandalf are on the list too. |
I would have to say that sam would be my favorite character because i admire sams loyalty to frodo. :o
|
FOr me, Tom Bombadil, Pippin and Eowyn. Tom because he's so happy and ecstatic about everything, Pippin cause he's a cute leetle hobbit, and Eowyn because she is so free spirited.
So, theres my 2 cents. Enjoy.... genevieve |
i think i like pippin the best because hes funny. :D
|
legolas & frodo would be tied...if i had to pick... i'd have to say frodo because he stuck through everything but SAM stuck with him....so i'd have to say SAM was my favorite hobbit and legolas was my favorite elf (there weren't many) my fave Man would be aragorn and my fave female would be eowyn...thats all for now... :)

the balrog
its the meanest looking creature in LotR and could bring down any hobbit in sight haha :D too bad It didn't use its wings to fly in the movie I love badass villains haha |
My favorite:
Hobbit: A tie between Frodo and Sam, because of Frodo's willingness to stick to his task, and Sam's bravery and loyalty. Although, Pippin comes very close in second with Merry trailing right next to him. Elf: Who else but Legolas? He's got aim, cool tricks up his sleeve, and a somewhat good look to him. Man: Probably Aragorn, just because he's cool. And, not to mention a little mysterious in the beggining of the book as Strider. He's cool. Woman: Probably Eowyn, because (in the movie ONLY) I hate Arwen, she comes in too many times, and besides, I hate Liv Tyler. Arwen's cool in the book, but not as cool as Eowyn. Dwarf: Actually, it'd be (if the range was wider) Bombur. He's cool too. With the falling asleep 'cause of falling in the river. That was funny. Ent: definately Quickbeam. Although Fangorn is definatley cool, he's slow and patient. I like Quickbeam because he's the, "hasty" ent. Although, if there were one, I think I'd take a fancy to an ent wife. I think they'd be cool. |
Morgoth......i mean come on!!!!morgoth rocks!!!!!!and then galadriel, because she can talk without moving her mouth
|
My fave is Tom Bombadil, I was really upset when he wasnt in the movies. :( And I also love Aragorn and Legolas, for obvious reasons.
|
and the award goes to....haha
my favorites:
elf: legolas man: aragorn hobbit: Pippin all around: Frodo all round runner up: Sam & Merry (tied) _____________________________ Want to talk about Frodo? Go to "The Movies" Forum and go to "How much Frodo Grew..." thread and jab about Frodo in the movies! Also in "Middle Earth Mirth" you can blab about your possible ancestors in the thread "Are you Related???" and if you feel in a creative mood, you can spill your guts and tell us an email address for legolas, and a halloween costume for sam in the threads "Aim names for them all" and "What would the Lotr Characters be for halloween?" TRY THEM!!! |
I agree with Nirvana II!!!! MORGOTH RULES!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Oh yeah..the Nazgul are awesome. Sauron's pretty cool..even though he's been reduced to a Flaming Eye of doom..but whatever :)
|
I agree with Wilwarin, Tom Bombadil is the best.
But anyway, Morgoth isn't even in LOTR (Or at least, he isn't mentioned). |
Unconquerable spears of steel
were at his nod, no ruth did feel the legions of his marshalled hate, on whom did wolf and raven wait; and black the ravens sat and cried upon their banners black and wide was heard their hideous chanting dread above the reek and trampled dead. With fire and sword his ruin red on all who would not bow the head like lightning fell. The Northern land lay groaning neath his ghastly hand. Alright, someone like has got to rock. Then Morgoth came. For the last time in those great wars he dared to climb from subterranean throne profound, the rumour of his feet a sound of rumbling earthquake underground. Black-armoured, towering, iron-crowned he issued forth;his mighty shield a vast unblazoned sable field with shadow like a thundercloud; and o'er the gleaming king it bowed, as huge aloft like mace he hurled that hammer of the underworld, Grond. Clanging to the ground it tumbled down like a thunderbolt, and crumbled the rocks beneath it; smoke up-started, a pit yawned, and a fire darted. Come on, admit it. Morgoth gets the red carpet for being so cool. |
Well...in the entire Tolkienverse, I'd probably pick Turin or Fingolfin as my favorite character. Turin because he's an dark, complex, fatalistic, existential character, and Fingolfin because he messed up Morgoth's leg.
If we're limiting it to LOTR characters, then I'd have to go with either Faramir, Aragorn, or Farmer Maggot. EDIT: 800 posts, baby. Yippee ki yay. |
I might be a Legolas Fangirl, but i probably have to Say Witch-King is my Favorite Character in LOTR. When the Nazgul first appear in the movies i thought they were pretty cool, but when i saw that Helmet I just fell in love with the Witch-King(not the Fangirl-ish way, Well maybe.)
And Like everyone else, I hated Gothmog when i first saw him. But after seeing the part where he side-steps the boulder i couldn't help but admit that the part was pretty cool. After some time, A finally admit that Gothmog's one of my Favorite characters(Second to the witch-king) Is it me? Or am i the only gothmog fan?:p |
