Ent Women

Does anyone else think the Old Forest could be made up of the Ent Women that left all the other Ents?

I'm not sure if I have this right but from the book I got the idea that Ents are creatures who eventually end up as trees. (from the entwash?)

Anyway maybe the Old Forest is where the other Ents ended up, all the trees whispering to each other and watching them, of course Old man willow was obviously a male tree but not counting him. Plus Treebeard said that the Shire sounded like the type of place the Ent Women would have liked.

Oh and the story about the trees attacking the hedge.

Anyone have anything to add or any ideas???

I don't think so-my personal belief is that the Entwives simply passed out of the knowledge of the peoples of Middle Earth perhaps to an "Entish" version of Valinor
not all Ents end up as trees: some become like them and some trees become like Ents
the forest that attacked the hedge was made up of malevolent trees, not Ents-Ents are the shepherds of the trees that try to keep them in line, as it were, as well as protecting them from the sharp axes of the dwarves

The entwives almost certainly did not end up in the Old Forest. The creatures there were huorns, but without ents to Shepherd them.

My guess is that the Entwives are hanging out in the Bindbale woods in the North Farthing. Remember that Sam shared a story at the Green Dragon about his Cousin Hal seeing a "Tree Man" on the North Moors?

The Old Forest would not be an Entwife's cup o' tea. Too untidy.

Hmmm.. .I have never considered that those might be the entwives. Thank you for pointing that out...

Well they can very well be in the Old Forest or the North Farthing. Maybe they broke up and they're in both. This is a very interesting topic!
