I have a question concerning the trolls. Now, in the hobbit, Biblo escaped from the trolls because the sun rose and turned them to stone. Now in the movie, there were all these trolls running around in broad daylight. Were they a different kind of troll? And what were the normal Mordor orcs doing in broad daylight at the Pelennor?

Heyyyyy, I never noticed that! Well, I mean, I noticed there were trolls and orcs running around, but it never occured to me that they shouldn't have been out in daylight. Hmm.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe because the days were growing darker, it wasn't bright enough for the trolls and orcs to be affected by it. I realize I'm probably stretching a little bit, or maybe a lot. Definitely open to other suggestions.

remember teh uruk-hai? they coudl withstand sunlight, most orcs can also survive it, but it weakens them, for trolls... in the hobbit gandalf turned them into stone by doing something with light, but sauron made Olog-Hai, just like hte uruk-hai, but as a troll

I don't think Tolkien himself ever fully explained the differences between orcs, goblins, trolls... It's true the uruks ability to withstand sunlight is 'explained' by them being a cross between men & orcs - but there are discrepancies, to say the least.

The Trolls that were running about in the daylight were not ordinary Trolls, they were bred especially by Sauron and were called 'Olog-hai'. They were not afraid of daylight and could survive it because they were driven by the will of Sauron. When he perished, they became purposeless and simply wandered, and eventually all perished or were slain.

There are two articles on our ARTICLES Page that have the word 'Olog-hai' in their title. Check them out!

Also, I think the only orcs that had a lot of trouble running about in the sun where the orcs from Moria, & they had trouble because they'd been in the dark for so long. Also, there where at least 3 different kinds of trolls, with the stone trolls seeming to be the smartest (since they could carry on conversations), or at least compared to the 'movie trolls'.
