To pay homage to that love triangle set up by PJ:
Arwen/Aragorn/Eowyn - Run to You ~ Bryan Adams And for the recent craze in the Captions thread: Gandalf - I'm too sexy for my shirt etc.

This is really only funny if you've ever seen the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode:
LEGOLAS: Look it's a dwarf, he's uncouth and he's coarse A terrible boor He makes this run 'cross the wide plains of Ro-han Hard to endure The hobbits must be saved But you'd think he'd find time to shave I'll take it to my grave . . . I'll never tell GIMLI: Great, it's an elf who's obsessed with himself What did you expect I can detect all his sly disrespect Because he's stiff-necked So he can run on snow His only weapon's that dumb bow There's just one thing that - no I'll never tell GIMLI / LEGOLAS: 'Cause there's nothing to tell LEGOLAS: He's short GIMLI: He's pretty LEGOLAS: He thinks his jokes are witty GIMLI: He hums some elven ditty As we run along LEGOLAS: He's gross, and hairy GIMLI: He acts like he's a fairy LEGOLAS: He's stubborn and contrary Stupid and headstrong GIMLI / LEGOLAS: This chase Is really wearing GIMLI: No one taught him about sharing LEGOLAS: He thinks wearing brown is daring GIMLI: He can be so overbearing GIMLI / LEGOLAS: But it's all very well 'Cause I swear I'll never tell LEGOLAS: We've lost the hobbits We're at the end of our wits We're here at Fangorn Forest With no hope in sight GIMLI: If we go in there I'll tell you we should beware The trees are - LEGOLAS: Look how the dwarf's scared! GIMLI: I'm not frightened, all right? (Begin Musical Interlude) (OLD MAN leaps out of Fangorn.) OLD MAN: Look at me! I'm Gandalf Greybeard! (End Musical Interlude) GIMLI / LEGOLAS: You know GIMLI: He's quite the charmer LEGOLAS: My dwarf in armor GIMLI: When he sees the caves of Aglarond I know he can't help but respond With firm yet supple - stiff-necked elves LEGOLAS: He's brave GIMLI: He's braver LEGOLAS: I've never seen him waver GIMLI: He wants to be the savior Of all Middle Earth LEGOLAS: He plays the stoic Beneath he's quite heroic Although he'd never show it I ignored his worth GIMLI / LEGOLAS: I lied I said it's easy I tried But there's feelings I can't quell GIMLI: Could he learn to live beneath the ground? LEGOLAS: Would my people run me out of town? GIMLI: Will he think that I'm disgusting When my armor gets to rusting? LEGOLAS: When I go to the Grey Havens Will he grieve like he's been shaven? GIMLI: Am I crazy? LEGOLAS: Am I selfish? GIMLI: Am I dating someone elvish? GIMLI / LEGOLAS: You might think that I'm a cold fish But this just won't end well So that's why I'll never tell I swear that I'll never tell GIMLI: My lips are sealed LEGOLAS: Silence is gold GIMLI: Nothing to see Move it along GIMLI / LEGOLAS: We'll never tell |

I feel all naughty for saying it, but Tom and Goldberry: We Like to Smoke Pot! by Rasputina (Come on... we're all thinking it!) Frodo: Friend of the Illresponsible by Voltaire (I think this one is obvious) Theoden (after a good De-wizarding): 22 by Frogpond "22... feels like I lost my mind... I feel fine! I feel fine!" Grima: Lullaby by the Cure Every orc that ever lived: The Introduction ...of Les Miserables. You know, that chant? "Look down, look down, don't look 'em in the eye" ? (oOoo) Denethor: Shirt-Waist Fire another Rasputina song. Legolas: Tiptoe Through the Tulips by Tiny Tim The Hobbits: Sweethome (Shire) Alabama! Aragorn: I'm Addicted to Stress I can't remember this artist, either. Get Down Tonight by KC and the Sunshine band. Denethor to Faramir Why Don't you do Right? by Rasputina. Again. Dwarvian Mines/Get togethers Anything by Chichanni. I can't understand whats going on, but I like it! (Chicanni = Peruvian folk music group :\) Ghan-Buri-Ghan and the PUKELMEN!!: Come on (Feel the Noise) "We'll get Wild! Wild, wild!"... "Wild! Wild, wild!" Then there are things that my mind perveses such as When time stands Still (At the Iron Hill) by Blind Guardian which just strikes me as a great song for marching elves. Everywhere. And singing. I might could think of more, but, frankly, I'd have to crack out more CDs/mp3s.

Elrond to Aragorn regarding Arwen:
"But as for Arwen the Fair, Lady of Imladris and of Lorien, Evenstar of her people, she is of lineage greater than yours, and she has lived in the world already so long that to her you are but as a yearling shoot beside a young birch of many summers. She is too far above you. But there will be no choice before Arwen, my beloved, unless you, Aragorn, Arathorn's son, come between us and bring one of us, you or me, to a bitter parting beyond the end of the world." And so at least the chorus of Just the Girl by Click Five would seem to fit Arwen/Aragorn: Cause she's bittersweet She knocks me off of my feet And I can't help myself I don't want anyone else She's a mystery She's too much for me But I keep coming back for more She's just the girl I'm looking for |

Dido coincidence? I think not!
Just read your post, and it was off to iTunes with me. Found the Dido song, and I see your point Aragorn and Arwen wise. But, when I heard the 30s preview, for some reason, the movie Love Actually popped into my head. After going through my CD's, I found the song I was thinking of. And, by such a coincidence, it was also by Dido. So, in conclusion...
Here with me by Dido, for all those times Arwen thinks about Aragorn. The lyrics just seem to compliment the plot of it so well, you'd think it was meant for it. Lyrics (for those who dont' have the song) I didn't hear you leave I wonder how am I still here And I don't want to move a thing It might change my memory Oh I am what I am I do what I want But I can't hide And I won't go I won't sleep I can't breathe Until you're resting here with me And I won't leave I can't hide I cannot be Until you're resting here with me I don't want to call my friends For they might wake me from this dream And I can't leave this bed Risk forgetting all that's been Oh I am what I am I do what I want But I can't hide And I won't go I won't sleep I can't breathe Until you're resting here with me I won't leave I can't hide I cannot be Until you're resting here I won't go And I won't sleep And I can't breathe Until you're resting here with me And I won't leave I can't hide I cannot be Until you're resting here with me Oh I am what I am I do what I want But I can't hide And I won't go I won't sleep And I can't breathe Until you're resting here with me I won't leave I can't hide I cannot be Until you're resting here And I won't go And I won't sleep And I can't breathe Until you're resting here with me I won't leave I can't hide I cannot be Until you're resting here with me

That's awsome Perky!!! There's another song that pops into my head for Arwen and Aragorn but I can't remember for the life, I mean death, of me what the song is called or what the Artist's name is.

I hate to seem like a post spammer, but these songs from the Love Actually CD seem to apply to a lot of people
Jump(for my love) by The pointer Systers, for Nienor This one is kinda weird, but God only knows by The Beach Boys, for Feanor loving his simarils. Although it may seem weird (because of the whole elf <3 Object problem), it does seem to show Feanor's love for the simarils. Especially the whole 'God (Eru) only knows' part....kinda... Take me as I am by Wyclef Jean, for Eowyn. Not the song so much, but just the title. Wowzers. Once again, sorry for seeming like a post hog who refuses to eat the pineapple pizza in front of him. PS. I love Pineapple pizza

I think any good 70s rock song would fit him. No wonder he's my favorite character. I can't think of a good one, though.

Gandalf after fighting the Balrog: waiting for the world to fall by Jars of Clay
I'm afraid it's been too long to try to find the reasons why I let my world close in around a smaller patch of fading sky But now I've grown beyond the walls to where I've never been And it's still winter in my wonderland Chorus I'm waiting for the world to fall I'm waiting for the scene to change I'm waiting when the colors come I'm waiting to let my world come undone I close my eyes and try to see the world unbroken underneath The farther off and already it just might make the life I lead A little more than make-believe when all my skies are painted blue And the clouds don't ever change the shape of who I am to You Chorus I'm waiting for the world to fall I'm waiting for the scene to change I'm waiting when the colors come I'm waiting to let my world come undone When I catch the light of falling stars my view is changing me My view is changing me |

And going off the Disney fest earlier I think a wjhole new world from the Aladdin movie would be appropriate for Bilbo and Frodo going to the Grey Havens at the end of ROTK |

Somebody had mentioned Queen earlier, and there are a slew of their songs that fit different Tolkien characters (at least title-wise):
The WitchKing -- Death on Two Legs ('You're just an old Barrow Boy...) Arwen -- Who Wants to Live Forever Frodo -- Seaside Rendezvous Gimli -- (Just Waiting) For the Hammer to Fall Legolas -- My Fairy King or The Fairy Fellers Master-Stroke *swoons* Galadriel -- White Queen Ingwe -- In the Lap of the Gods Gandalf -- The Prophet's Song Sam -- Keep Yourself Alive Sauron -- One Vision Lotho Sackville-Baggins -- Tie Your Mother Down Morgoth -- I Want it All Elwing -- Spread Your Wings Gollum -- I'm Going Slightly Mad Denethor -- Put Out the Fire Et cetera and so on...

The whole song‽ (40-ish minutes)
I would go for (seemingly obviously): The Wizard by Black Sabbath for Gandalf in his travelling days. I'm certain that there is a quote somwhere that talks about Gandlaf travelling and spreadng happiness, and this song has that theme. Quote:
Or for the Balrog: I'm too sexy for my wings

Some newer thoughts
I think that song should go to Faramir or Aragorn, due to their rejecting of the past mistakes of Gondor.
Denethor should have the darker "A Passion Play" by them. And on that note: Songs from the wood= Tom Bombadil (or on second thoughts, Sam as well) Also, Gwaihir: Any bird or flying song Elves who cross the Helcaraxe: Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin

This isn't for a character, but the 'Downs as a whole (Not based on actual experiences, but still):
Hotel Barrow-Downs - By The Eag... oh... I had a burning question, no book had the key The Silmarillion, it would not answer me So I went onto Google, saw the question discussed Realised that I should read some more Click the link I must There it opened before me I saw those who here did dwell And I was thinking to myself, "I could just look or I could post as well" So I wrote up my first post and clicked 'Submit Reply' There were some people posting Said "to post you first have to 'die' ". Welcome to the Barrow Do-owns Forum Such a lovely place Such a lovely face Plenty of room at the Barrow Do-owns Forum Any time of year, you can find it here. I'd read a few books of Tolkien, I knew a bit about about Dale But some here have heavy, heavy books, that they call the 'Tales' How do they post on the forum, 2+ per day Some come here for knowledge, some for Werewolf stay. So I called up Chris Tolkien, ’Please add a new book to the mix’ He said, ’we haven’t had new material since 1996’ And still those Barrows are calling you up from your beds, Wake you up in the middle of the night Just to read on threads... Welcome to the Barrow Do-owns Forum Such a lovely place Such a lovely place They're posting on threads at the Barrow Do-owns Forum What a nice surprise, and they're Tolkien-wise. I talked to a long-timer, When I'd just posted twice And she said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’ And the Mod Gorthad, They gather to kill spambots They ban them all with their Mod powers, But they just find lots and lots Last thing I remember, I was Trying to sign out I had to find the passage back The 'Downs to live without ’Relax,’ said the wight man, We are programmed to receive. You can register any time you like, But you can never leave!
