After they sang some really insipid songs to him, like "She's not just merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead" Tom wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "Poor little things. I'll take them back to Middle-earth with me. There I will wash the make-up from their faces and give them decent clothes to wear, and teach them some real songs, like 'Hey dol derry dol'."

This he did, out of the goodness of his heart, and Middle-earth was never quite the same again (and Munchkin land was overrun by Flying Monkeys, who sang "They're not just merely gone, they're really most sincerely gone").
