Strewth, I really thought I'd got it!
OK then..... is it Eärwen? The wings thing ( and your clue ) made me think of Alqualondë. Wasn't she called "Swan Maiden" or something like that? Her son, Finrod Felagund became King of Nargothrond......see where I'm going here?
