Or does the "don't use Gandalf" rule kick in here? If we're not allowed to use elves, then I think we have to go to an Ainu from Finwë. Perhaps: Finwë -> Ulmo -> Tuor -> Eärendil -> Elrond -> Samwise I'm not sure if Eärendil and Elrond count as elves or not.
