Re: Orcs and other dwellers in the night

So did I, Mr Kittle. I always thought that Goblins was just an expression for the smaller and sun-fearing orcs of the first age and those snagas living in the Misty Mountains. They were bred from Elves which did not make it to Valinor, but were captured by Melkor and corrupted; and as the breeds got better, and human blood joined the Elvish blood, so did the orcs grow stronger, from Goblins to Orcs. This division is still very common in other fantasy worlds, but I think Tolkien himself said that Goblins was just another word for orcs which he only used in The Hobbit and the early chapters of The Lord Of the Rings... where, in turn, Melkor corrupted dogs to wolves in mockery of the creation of Éru and the Ainur...
But alright, I´m not too sure about this anyway.

As for my question...hmmm...what was the constellation of the Big Dipper called by the Elves, and what by the dwarves?
