Wow... this is a good one. I remember the EZ board, and may have posted a couple times there under my global account 'Snowdogs' sometime in 2000 as I was in search of Tolkien boards at the time. I spent the years on Tolkienonline until I finally got banned.

Yes, I remember returning here when someone (Bethberry maybe?) mentioned the place on Minas Tirth . com. I remember 25 Hobbits as well, and the White Council on EZBoard, and Ringbearer . org

These days, few of the old haunts of the day are still alive.

Barrow Downs of course, appearing the same as it ever was and straining under the thousands of 'guests' searching and drain its resources (the 508 issue).Hope it's around forever!

Tolkien Forums started when Barrow Downs did, and it had a rough go around the Hobbit film era, but after changing ownership a few times, a new techie owner with a passion for Middle-earth took over and completely renovated the site while keeping all the old threads going back to 2000.

The One Ring . net seems to be still going strong even after all the updates to the site.

The One Ring . com gradually fell into disuse through the 2010s, but was majorly revamped in 2020. a short-lived message-board replaced the legacy board but was soon abandoned, and is now a Patraeon 'pay-to-play' site.

Entmoot seemed to have been abandoned by the owners after 2020 sometime with a 'security certificate' issue that prevented log-in. It appears it has now completely disappeared.

Council of Elrond is still limping along with the forum. Everything else on the site has been disabled but can be viewed.

Arwen Undomiel is an odd one. The original owner handed the keys to someone when the Hobbit movies were coming out, and when participation numbers were a bust, was seemingly abandoned. There was one trooper mod who finally gave up in 2020, and the place fell to the onslaught of spambot orcs. Oddly, the hosting seems to remain and the certificates and domain name seems to be renewed. It has to be costing someone money to keep the spambot city going.

Anyway... just waxing nostalgic here....
