Hi Fernie. I thought the movies were good.

FerniesApple, why hate the movies?
I like them. Like, not love. The first was a bit of a drag, the second is okay-ish. Looking forward to the third.

where do I start?
![]() I think the single worst element is the constant rehashing of LOTR scenes and dialogue, it cheapens the earlier trilogy. Its fan pandering at its worst and it actually damages the excellence of the original. Tauriels glowing is an example but there are many many more, each cringeworthy. No I forgot the very very worst! Bilbo how could I forget Bilbo? well Jackson forgot him, completely, its a farce. That the main character should be shunted to the background in the attempt to force some pseudo Aragornized character to the fore is mind boggling. Its like watching a very polished plastic parody. They suck. I could continue for hours....

I can't say, or rather can't explain it.

Welcome back, Preciousss (if that isn't presumptuous from someone who only joined in 2009!)
And a belated welcome to FerniesApple.
