Overall, I'd say Bilbo said or wrote some of the funniest lines in the books. The tags he put on the various gifts were classic. I particularly liked the *convex* mirror to Angelica Baggins who fancied herself pretty and the wastebasket for the relative who always felt obliged to offer good advice. He had some fine lines in the Hobbit as well: "I cook better than I cook, if you see what I mean." (I suspect the subtlety was wasted on the trolls.
