This is purely a hypothetical question, and I don't plan on pulling this stunt anytime soon (because, for one thing, I don't think the extra trade can offset the lack of prediction points), but . . . can you miss the trade deadline on purpose and get that extra trade?

I suppose if someone believes one extra trade is worth zero activity the previous round they can try it. But like I said, they're only allowed the extra trade if they make no trades and make no predictions the previous round, so they'd automatically be giving up a chance at 8 points in predictions, so to break even they'd have to be confident they would make those points up with their extra trade (plus any points they might lose not being able to switch their captaincy or swapping out an optimal player etc.).
