The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien is a great source for correspondence written by the Professor. It was edited by Humphrey Carpenter with the assistance of C.J.R.T, and consists of various letters and unsent drafts to a wide variety of persons, including Tolkien's (future) wife, his children, book publishers, and readers. I highly recommend it.
