How many times have you read LOTR?

On this site I was criticised and put down for not reading it all, so I tried to re-read it. Unfortunately, pushing me towards the books makes me resent them, so I have not looked at the books for some time. I will also never read the Silmarillion for the same reasons.

Meela, don't listen to the criticism about not reading all of the books. Not everyone enjoys Tolkien's writing style. I know some people who couldn't get through the first book and gave up only to pick it up years later and fall in love with it.

Don't let the criticism stop you from picking up the books in the future. You may find that at another time they may give you great enjoyment.
