I'm not really quite sure how that would work...just because ME has its own history and myths does not mean it could be a religion.

In order to make a religion based on ME, a lot of things would have to be made up, such as ceremonies, occupations for professional worshippers (ie. priests or clerics), significant symbols, etc. The result of any attempt at this would be decidedly anti-Tolkien.
