Both were outstanding beings and got their rewards. You get the definite impression that Aragorn's life was all he imagined it could be during his reign and Gandalf got to go back to being the immortal Maiar, Olorin. I have to weigh in on the Gandalf side of the question though, he agreed to be constrained to and it's skills to help fight the Shadow. I can't imagine being as powerful as he was and giving it up.
