Funnily enough, I think one of the reasons I did so poorly last game was that a couple of pretty serious issues came up that had to be dealt with, and were very time-consuming. The fact that both of these (rather unusual events for my area) happened so close together might be another piece of the strange misfortune that seemed to haunt that game.
