But P and A has Tolkien-esque ideas in it, not just things that are relevant to the 'Downs. Like Alien going to Gondor, for instance. That may just be a little thing dropped in there to keep it Tolkien related, but it was still great. As for the Downer, it's all about Tolkien.
![]() Bringing the thread back on topic just a bit, I always have people give me funny looks when I mention my Deathday or my death in general, not just my vulnerable brother. Then, of course, there are always those times when one mentions the number of times one has died on the 'Downs. And another misconception I always have, though it is really the other way around from my original idea, is that when somebody says something about another person being 'such a downer', I think of our newspaper... ![]()

Ok then you have proved a small link to the works of Tolkien, tell me what has The Fall from Olympus got to do with it, in that thread there isn't one mention of his works.

Personally I have no idea what that thread has to do with Tolkien. I've never gone to it, and I don't actually pay attention to Werewolf. I can only give my opinion on things that I actually know about. I know the Downer, WW not so much.

I think most of us have gotten some weird/unjust infraction point during our stay in the worn down barrows, but there is no need to keep dwelling on the subject. . . it was a silly thing, might even done by a silly person.
To get the thread back on track I will share a funny misconception my family has about this site. My family is convinced that this is a place I got to discuss the works of Tolkien. . . and not just a place I hang out to have a laugh and meet new (and old) friends. |

The Downer and the Phantom and Alien are as connected or unconnected to Tolkien as you want them to be.
![]() Speaking of misconceptions, I do recall, long ago, a sibling of mine googling 'the downs' to see what it was about. He thought I liked hills after that. ![]()

![]() Surprised I was never queried about my extensive research into wheelbarrows. We had the same one for years and it never let us down, after all.

I live in the North-west of England, in a place called Lancashire. Not too far away is a town called Barrow-in-Furness, my friend at work thought this site was about the region around that town. I wonder how many other people live near a Barrow, I'm sure there is one near Stonyhurst, which is actually nearer to me than the other one.
