Is it alive? - No.
Does it exist in the First Age? - No. Is it a region? - No. Does it exist before the Third Age? - That's a very good question! I'd say no, but can't exclude it with certainty; if it did, however, that would only be by a very narrow margin. Do people live there? - No. It's not a place. Is it a weapon? - No. A jewel? - No. An object? - Yes!!!
