I would assign anyone to the Shire who can translate this for me in Quenya:

And that I said my limbs were old;
And that I said my blood was cold,
And that my kindly fire was fled,
And that my withered heart was dead,
And that I might not sing of love? -
How could I to the dearest theme
That ever warmed a minstrel's dream,
So foul, so false, a recreant prove!
How could I name my love's very name,
Nor wake my harp to notes of flame!

Could someone please translate that for me? I would be very, very grateful.

Sorry, the grammar of this too is just complicated for me to attempt. You could try asking the person who runs Ardalambion, though there seems to be a problem with the site at the moment.

Darvocet. Because it's the only thing that kept me from passing out this evening. For that, it should have some lovely cakes too.

Also, Nerwen is assigned to the Shire for ruffling up the Werewolf glossary over in Mirth. Well, for other reasons too, of course, but that one comes to mind.

That bitter-sweet feeling one has after finishing a great book. On the one hand, you're sad that it is over and wish that it could have lasted longer, on the other hand, you cannot deny the sense of fulfiment after you have read it. I also wish to assign an extremely underrated - to my knowledge at least - writer of historical fiction named Rosemary Sutcliff. There is something in her style and ideas that reminds me of the spirit of Tolkien's books and I think that she would truly deserve a place in the Shire along with more appreciation.

Never heard of her. . .

I always felt weird about Historical fiction and even Counterfactual History, even though it is intriguing, I always fear that some of the fictional part will remain in my brain and with time mistaken for historical facts.
