My sister relayed a question that was asked by one of her co-workers about if a tiny shard of glass could travel through your bloodstream to your heart. Of course the proper response is "No, it's not a Morgul blade, silly".

I was on Facebook today and read an advert as "Are you a hobbit." as opposed to "Are you hot."

You pass a place called Crickhowell, and read it wrong three times before realising your mistake.

That's why I stick with the Welsh version of the place-names when I'm in Wales. Crug Hywel doesn't look quite so misleading, does it? Although it looks remotely like Sindarin (like almost everything Welsh). Another symptom is when you misread Cotton buds as Cortirion buds. (I thought I'd already posted this weeks ago, but search says I haven't.)

I try to too, but I had an English map. And also, since Elvish was based partly upon Welsh, it's not surprising that there are similarities.

YKYOWLOTRW (You know you're obsessed with Lord of the Rings when): you giggle uncontrollably when you encounter a Tolkien reference in a book. When: you have a shelf devoted to assorted Tolkien works. When: You dress up as a elf for Halloween. When: You then insist: "I am and elf! Elves do not get cold!" in response to the -17 temperature. When: You write a fanfic about a made-up reality show staring lotr characters. |

You constantly misread things, Eg: Ford=Frodo, celebration=Celebriant etc. and you start mispronouncing words. Instead of Cicero, you say Kikero |

Digitalizing Gimli's Ale? Oh come on, technical progress is one thing, but when even beverages become digital...

You know you're obsessed with LOTR when nearly a decade after the release of the movies you are STILL going to work dressed like an elf, or a hobbit, depending on the day.

So at this very moment by brother is playing this video came called Borderlands. So in the game there's this little "Midget" guy that he has to help by restoring the flow of "purple juice" to "Midgetville". The way he has to restore the flow of the juice is by activating 4 pumps. The names of the pumps? Brandybuck, Took, Gamgee and Underhill. I got terribly excited.

When staying a night or two in a new hotel, I write "Frodo Lives!" with my finger in the fogged up mirror post-showering on the day I leave in hopes that the maid will see it and get a laugh. You should give it a shot sometime!

There is nothing like bonding with someone by spontaneously reciting the Rings poem in turns with them. You get this feeling like...'I am meant to know this person.' |

On topic...I don't have anything to beat you guys, but told a co-worker the other day he looked like a Hobbit having a bad hair day. I lapse into Gollum-speak on a regular basis, even though I can't get the voice right to save my life. When I label a container of leftover food, I have to restrain from writing "what's TATERS, precious?" for potatoes, 'leaveses' for salad, 'eggses', etc.

When you are in a training and you have to enter fake names into the computer database and the first ones that come to mind are not common ones like 'Bob Jones' but rather LOTR names. I would love to see the admins face when she sees those names that I entered

In the Maths GCSE today, there was a question about Arwen buying cars. The first thing I wondered was whether it was Eomer's van, and the second was what the exchange rate in Middle-Earth is.

Don't forget the other van - presumably quite substantial -that Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn and Gandalf went in with the Dunedain and the sons of Elrond. Anyway the main reason for my post is that I saw various references and adverts for this company in magazines over the weekend.

So I have this fancy scanner thing that I use to reorder greeting cards (I work for a greeting card company, American Greetings). So I have to plug it into the phone jack to get updates and such and the screen always shows the names of all these random files. One of them was Ordo101. I got really excited. I have no clue what it means, or what it does, but I'm happy I have it.

I just noticed...that after a ten day holiday without holding my LotR book in my hands, I went mad O.O I actually started to go around bookstores just to read snippets of the book (though I missed The Silmarillion more, I will admit).

My signs of being a Tolkienutter (nuts about Tolkien)

			1. When something comes up, the first think that comes to mind is an episode from one of Tolkie's works 2. I've read LotR so many times that can tell you from 1 sentence who, when, to who, why, etc, said the line 3. My parents had to confiscate the books a few times because I've reading them too much 4. In every library that I come to the first thing that I check is which Tolkien books they have 5. I feel contempt for people that say that LotR is useless but never read it and don't know who Tolkien is 6. I study elvish more than French (2nd language in Canada) 7. When I met a girl namen Laurel, I told her that her name means "Golden Star" in Elvish, and she replied "what the hell?!"

You're obsessed not only with LOTR, but with Tolkien in general, when...

When your little sister, to whom you've just finished reading LOTR aloud, already knows the names of the Valar, the difference between Valar and Maiar, the names of all 5 Istari and who they are, Beren's and Turin's stories, Vanyar Noldor and Teleri, Elrond's lineage, the kinslayings, all the names in the family trees at the end of The Sil, etc etc.

After learning that whales can survive for over a hundred years, you begin to suspect maybe they're really our world's versions of elves. Just maybe old age and sickness doesn't kill them.
