I suppose the place that sounds like "Launder" is Lond Daer? It is more south than southwest but given that most hobbits seldom venture out of the Shire let alone beyond Bree that isn't a big problem.

Hullo, hullo!
It's been quite a while since I've roleplayed (I think I even did it on this site at one point, under another name that I've since forgotten). I'm trying to revive some of my old writing skills, and if I remember correctly, this was a great way to flex creative muscle. Maybe I can coax some life back into this thread along the way. So, character bio: *** NAME: Amadi (formerly Amroth) AGE: Twenty-something RACE: Men (Southern Gondor by blood) GENDER: Male WEAPONS: None per se, but he can pack a mean whallop with his fist (or feet) if necessary. Also carries a small but sharp knife reserved for herb-gathering and other non-combative tasks. He has plain but finely-crafted (elven, in fact) leather vambraces, ostensibly for defense, though their true purpose is to disguise certain markings on his wrists. APPEARANCE: Shortish black hair and very darkly tanned skin, which contrasts strikingly with his pale grey eyes. Small for a Gondorian, but strong in a wiry sort of way. Goes barefoot. Plain gold hoop earring in his left ear, which along with the haircut gives him an exotic flavor. Wears weathered (less polite eyes would see threadbare) trousers, tunic, and vest, all sun-bleached to pastel browns and greys. His favorite piece of clothing is an old but well-cared-for leather coat with substantial pockets. Nearly always smiling. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Very open and friendly--to a point. His past experiences have taught him not to take anyone at face value. Amadi speaks several languages, and picks up new ones quickly. Has experience as a sailor, cook, impromptu diplomat, butcher, vet, valet, and many other odd jobs he probably wouldn't want you to know about. He's honest, generous to a fault, hardworking, but impulsive and a little too self-indulgent. He has a relatively loose concept of things like "laws", not having lived in one place long enough to have much to do with either, which occasionally gets him into trouble. Loves food of all kinds. HISTORY: Son of a Gondorian trader, he was captured by pirates at a young age and sold as a slave to the Southrons. He had the good fortune to fall into friendly hands, and was eventually freed and employed as ship's cook by his former master, a spice merchant. Spent years sailing to corners of the world generally unknown to Northern civilization. Shipwrecked off the Northern coast and rescued by friendly if unusual coast-dwellers, he decided to take the opportunity to see the North, and eventually to return to his long-lost home in Gondor. *** He might push the character limits a bit, but I think he makes sense and could work well within the world of the Perch. He could have some interesting connections with the elves already at the inn, and might even be helpful in finding Cook, given the right information. I'll put up his first post shortly. So how about it? ![]() ---------------------------------------- LINKED ~*~ Pio Last edited by piosenniel; 01-04-2010 at 02:21 PM. |

How intriguing...your character might just be what we need. Plus, I like your posting style, judging from your first post. I'd respond, but that's really for someone in the kitchen to do right now. I can see a bunch of possiblilities for your Amadi, and I hope you stick around.

Welcome, Small One. Haha, I feel like I'm talking to a Hobbit for real and am some elf being. *insert evil-smiley thing* I'm kidding.
Welcome! Your character looks great! I intend to read the game thread as soon as possible and get writing on this RPG again. I have been extraordinarily busy on the Mead Hall in the Rohan Forum. (I suggest that anyone who wants to have a blast playing with a LOT of really good players, go there...we're pretty active.) But I think it is required that you play a little here at the Golden Perch before going there..... So! Allow me to allow you to write something by posting a response to your character. I will do that. Today. I promise. -- Foley

Hi Small One, I am really happy to see you - I was beginning to lose hope that this could get going again... It has been worse than swimming in treacle...
This is an encouraging start to the new year. ![]() Last edited by Mithalwen; 01-02-2010 at 05:47 AM. |
