Yet Frodo and Sam loved each
other, even as
Sam could not reach
across the chasm
caused by the Ring
and the wounds it caused.
Into Frodo's suffering
Sam cannot draw,
yet the folk most dear
to Frodo give him care.
And so the bitter
turns bitter
sweet.
And that is meet.
