It takes a lot of stones to declare war against Sauron. Plus, to die defending the body of a friend, so it doesn't get torn apart by Orcs! Didn't do much? If it wasn't for the valor of the Dwarves at this time, led by Dain, there may have been no home for Gimli (or the others) to return to.

What is Gimli doing at this time? Chasing elf-women and abandoning his own people to go live with the Elves. What was Gimli's greatest accomplishment? Come on...killing 71 at Helm's Deep? Oh big deal, they still would have won without Gimli.
