			Does it say anywhere in the books that hobbits had pointed ears. I know they do in the movies but is it mentioned in the books. 
		
		
		
		
		
		
			Hobbits were a branch of men who became short, probably in a similar way to how petty dwarves became shorter than other dwarves. It would have been due to a combination of genetics and environment. The gene for shortness being favoured due to an environmental condition and over time they became as they were in the books.
