Specking as an owner and Admin of a site I think that the choosing and selecting of forum Moderators is one of the hardest and most important tasks that any Board Admin will ever have to make. It is a sometimes-thankless task that involves much responsibility and maturity for the selected few. Much time and energy is required to keep and maintain a healthy, objective and unbiased forum.

A skilled Moderator is worth his/her weight in gold, it is the Moderators responsibility to keeps the forums moving in a healthy and interesting direction while maintaining the highest possible standards.

For the above reasons I believe that only a few people currently posting on the Downs are capable and worthy of this burden and none are those who have blown their own horn. A few deserving members have already received the mantel of mod and justifiably so, People like Estelyn Telcontar, Sharku, Mister Underhill, Gilthalion and Rimbaud have shown a great deal of Maturity and have shouldered the responsibility admirably while others who would like to be made mods would be utter failures.

To me it is the silent posters, who only post when needed and who enrich discussions, which fulfil the above requirements that are worthy of being made moderators. For me I would love nothing more than to see more people given the chance to prove their worth but I think the Downs now has an abundance of moderators. But my list for potential Moderators is this:
Mhoram
Onewhitetree
Legolas
Samewise
Lush
