But no, we are not told that she was vulnerable to disease, only that it affected her. But the important thing is about the vulnerability. Now since you ruled out this option, there are not many others left.

I believe you speak of Frodo Baggins, who after returning to the Shire had long periods of illness, especially around the aniversary of his stabbing on Amon Sûl. Because of this vulnerability, he was forced to sail west.
