I have read the Silmarillion once in Swedish and once in English, the Hobbit twice, Lotr 6 times, the book of Lost Tales 1 & 2 once, and am hunting the other books....
Oh..when we´re talking about books..when I was in the north of Sweden (came home yesterday) I bought a "kind of"-biography (about Tolkien, in Swedish), and J.R.R Tolkien-A Biography by Carpenter, in English, I am very happy....

:EDIT: - I must have miscounted something when talking about LotR... I am reading it for the 9th time right now (in English for the first time, lovely!) And I have only read LotR once since I posted in this thread. Ack, missed one time! How horrible.. Oh well, just had to change that, it was bothering me...

Since i´m from Argentina, i read the books in spanish. I´d love to try the english version but i´m afraid it´s gonna be a bit too advanced for my english It would be nice to read it with the original names and everything.
Maybe i´ll give it a try when i´m done with the unfinished tales!

ya know in all honesty, i started to read the Hobbit and put it down because i got bored. So, i started to read LOTR. And, oh my gosh! I couldn't put it down! I read them though once, and then read all my fav parts again and again! LIke, in ROTK, i read the last stretch of Frodo's burden like once a week at least, if not more! And call me pathetic, cause i am, but i read 'a knife in the dark' and 'flight to the ford' a million times since the movie came out in theaters. What can i say? They are the best books ever written! Tolkien IS the author of fantasy!

Let's see, this is actually a very hard question for me. My family is very...er...Tolkien-friendly (my parents named 3 of us with Middle-Earth first names and the rest have Middle-Earth names for middle names, just to point one odd fact). Very, very soon after I was born my parents read me the Hobbit, and after that The Lord of the Rings, then the Silmarillion. Imagine reading the Sil to a baby. As a direct result of this my first word was, "Maedhros!" Anyway...moving on...I think they continued reading all three of these books to me until I was old enough to read them for myself, which happened around 4th grade. I read the Sil for myself around 6th grade. I'm seventeen now and I have lost count of both how many times I had the books read to me and how many times I have read them myself. So my answer is, "Too many times to be considered normal anymore." I have read UT twice though and I am currently waiting for the HoME volumes I ordered to arrive.

I've read LOTR once but I plan to reread the trilogy sometime early next year...

I have yet to make it through The Silmarillion or The Hobbit even once...

I used to live in Malaysia so it was no suprise but now I'm in Australia and still I can't get it.
anyway my mum read the hobbit and lotr to me when I was young so I've been addicted ever since. an you know what? my mum complains that I'm too obsessed!

I believe I've read the whole set three times through, and The Silmarillion once. (Currently on my second go.) The Hobbit around four or five times. I have to finish The Two Towers by noon on Saturday, as I'm going to see the exhibit then. Huzzah!

I've read The Hobbit 3 times, LOTR 5 times, The Silmarillion 2 times (I'm working on my 3rd), and UT 1 time.

FYI
I don't have very much spare time to read. I go to school. I am taking all of the honors courses that are offered at my school and I get entirely too much homework. So, my spare time is limited.

If you go back to the first page, you'll find someone named "hegemonmatt". That's me! I've read it easily over a hundred times now, though not quite as frequently as I used to. Maybe once a week when I find the time. THe Silm i've now read 11 times, as it takes a week to get through.
