She slept through TTT? On a date? How?

As for the lack of interest, I may have some answeres. If you only get two hours (or none) of sleep a night, like me for instance, it is possible to fall asleep. Even if you're watching LotR. I fell asleep the fifth time that I saw FotR. *dodges flying objects* Yes, I did fall asleep.

As for the books, start her out with the Hobbit. It is a very simple read and may kindle some interest in the more complicated stuff that comes later. Hope it helps.
