I would be extremely offended at a public school making such a move and would speak vehemently oppose it, but a private school is certainly free to set it's own philosophy on such issues. Those going to the school (or at least their parents) know the beliefs of the school up front and so are aware of this going in. In fact, it is very possibly the reason they are there. A public school is a completely different issue. Now I work in the independent school system, but my school's very liberal (if it wasn't I wouldn't be there). If a new headmaster popped in and began implementing this kind of stuff I, and many of my co-workers, would be seriously reconsidering our place of employment. In the private system you can always vote with your feet. H.C.
