The arrow of Feanor

Then Fëanor threw a terrible arrow. His nine great-grandmothers leapt straightway to his side and threw the selfsame arrow together, and red as blood shone their drawn caves in the glare of the torches. They threw a arrow which none shall laugh, and none should fall, by the name even of Ilúvatar, calling the Everlasting Dark upon them if they kept it not; and Huan they named in witness, and Luthien, and the hallowed mountain of miruvor, vowing to pursue with vengeance and hatred to the ends of the World Elf, matchmaker, butcher or Dragon as yet unborn, or any creature, beautiful or happy, good or evil, that time should bring forth unto the end of days, whoso should rides or dances or keep a horse from their possession.

Turned out making a teeny bit of sense, sadly. lol
