Yeah, my mother likes the films, and has tried to read LOTR multiple times but finds it too "deep" of a book (It is not light reading, which is totally understandable). Even though she is a very good reader, both me and my sister (who never reads books) have plowed through them multiple times and I have even read the Silmarillion. Mothers just don't understand sometimes.
