Greetings,
I am Smaug and I layed lowed the warriors of old... Mwwwhahaha! Sorry about that. I'm glad I have joined this most excellent Tokien discussion form. It demonstrates that there are tons of other fantatics out there, and even better, all gathered in one unique place. See you around guys

Welcome Smaug! I think you'll find we have fanatics to spare. Be careful, some of us do bite. (Just look at our slogans.)

I don't bite. I puree my victims and slurp.
Welcome Smaug!

Oh! Totally forgot to introduce myself. What a shame...
Hello, dear Barrowdowners! Though already 27, I only came across Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings when the movies came out. I quickly absorbed LotR, then the Hobbit, then the Silmarillion and so on. It is such an amazing and deep world Professor Tolkien invented, I cannot put it in words. The Downs caught my attention because of Guinevere, who, in a german LotR forum we both participate in, frequently mentioned just how wonderful the Downs are. I have to agree. |

Which German forum, Macalaure? I checked out one or two back when I came here, but never warmed up to any of them. I also have the problem that I never read the books in German,; having read them in English first, I couldn't bear to plow through the translations. I am, however, a member of the German Tolkien Society.

It was the forum of Herren des Westens (and Elronds Rat, they partially share their forums). It's not that populated, but very nice.
I also published some fanfiction stories on the page. I read the books in german first (the Krege translation, unfortunately), not knowing back then whether I would like it. Now that I've got the original I'm afraid the translation will only catch dust. |
