Without imagination we are just survival machines, worse than orcs, worse than anything.
In Michael Ende's book "The Neverending Story", the theme is about just that. If there is no imagination, there is the "nothing".
We need a reason to be alive, otherwise there is no point. Imagination can supply a reason, though we still need to act upon it to make it meaningfull.
