When you are watching a rivetting, award-winning West End production of Schiller's Mary Stuart, and as the faithless Leicester turns in his fellow conspirator, you nod and think to yourself, hmmm, how very like Werewolf....

Cailín has just left Hobbiton.
When you doze off during an afternoon lecture (because it was too late last night and too early this morning) and you wake up suddenly when you hear someone say Barrow Downs from faraway, you ask your neighbor for confirmation on what you have just heard and get informed you just missed a very interesting tutorial in which you were supposed to analyze Gaelic Folk tales and find comparisons with The Lord of the Rings.

This shows definite obsessiveness because

1) I instantly realized it was the first time I ever heard anyone say the Barrow Downs out loud - a realization which made me grin rather foolishly.
2) Because I immediately thought I could use this incident as an excuse to post something non-substantial here.
3) I only started caring about missing the class when I was already halfway through typing this post.

Didn't take too long did it Cailin?

This only shows moderate obsessiveness but, having forum.barrowdowns.com set as your homepage on your home and school computer.

Tolkien ...

Well, I would say that doing this definitely shows an extreme case of obsessiveness (or an extreme case of , "Nerdy Child with too Much Time on her Hands".)

Of course this leads to all sort of interesting discussions, like Balancing Barrowdowners and Barrowdowner Reactions.

E.X.:

Balance the folowing equations:
1. Celegorm2Hilde Bracegirdle6 + Oddwen2 --> Hilde Bracegirdle2Oddwen + CelegormOddwen2
2. THE KaOddwenHilde Bracegirdle + Hilde Bracegirdle3PiosennielOddwen4 + Hilde Bracegirdle2Oddwen

And I'm no chemist but I'm fairly sure that a Lalwende-Davem combination would be disastrous to the world.

When you can't be bothered posting for yourself, you spend hours flicking between 'Who’s online' and 'User CP' just in case someone posts on a thread you're involved with.

Ouch.

You know you're terribly addicted when you post a Crazy Caption on the Deathday thread.

Go figure how that happened.

When you spend a lot of your time messing with Lord of the Rings related pictures and editing them for amusement with he sole purpose of posting them on the Downs.

Whenever you see snoopy on the Television you feel inclined to say "Wow, Eomer!"

So I'm Lanthanum?

Quote:
The metal reacts directly with elemental carbon, nitrogen, boron, selenium, silicon, phosphorus, sulphur, and with halogens. It is a component of, misch metal (used for making lighter flints).
Lanthanum and Dysprosium are apparently both radioactive and often found in combination, being difficult to split apart. I like the sound of that - it's potentially evil as you say.

Thank you, thank you, but alas, I'm not the only one who deserves such accolades. Shelob helped me a great deal in the deciding of the names and would have helped even more but she was stabbed by a small hobbit with a bright sword.* So thank you Shelob!

*Shelob broke down and was sent to Best Buy. She has now returned and is still broken.

I think I have to add this:

"Whenever you see someone shocked or disgusted, you ask them if they have just seen Gandalf the Grey Uncloaked!"

Should I admit how tempted I am to actually balance these?

That was eerily wonderful, Abercrombie.

Hmm...let's see...

1. 2 Celegorm2Hilde Bracegirdle6 + 7 Oddwen2 --> 6 Hilde Bracegirdle2Oddwen + 4 CelegormOddwen2

2. THE KaOddwenHilde Bracegirdle + Hilde Bracegirdle3PiosennielOddwen4 + Hilde Bracegirdle2Oddwen --> I'll get back to this.

Oops...

Took these straight from my Chem homework. It was mostly just a ploy to get people to do my work for me. Now if only you had been week earlier...

Lol, perfect, dear sir, perfect

I am Americium, apparently, named, unsurprisingly, after America. Hmm...*waves St George's cross and whistles the National Anthem patriotically and maybe a little pointedly* How did you decide on who was who? Brilliant idea, Abercrombie, absolutely fantastic!

Sweet, I'm Tellurium.

Not surprisingly, the phantom is Helium, validating all those "hot air" comments.

I'm Magnesium which is the power mineral and the fourth most common mineral in the body. Also it's a very strong metal.

Thanks Abercrombie.

And I think that looking at this thread shows that I am addicted to it.

Actually, I chose Helium for Phantom because the symbol abbreviation for it is "He." Of, course, "He" does tend towards some religious connotations (i.e. "He" refers to God.) Which leaves me with a terrifying conclusion to Fordim's question.
