Not "would be quite a long movie" but "is quite a long movie".

That's why they released it in three parts.

I thought it odd, seeing that "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers" were playing on TV this past weekend, that the 'information' regarding FotR stated that it was "Part 1 of 2" of the LotR trilogy. TTT was part 2, and so maybe TBS (the station airing the movies) hadn't updated their information since before RotK came out.

Or maybe they just don't have a clue.

Maybe they got it confused with Bakshi and thought LotR ended at Helm's Deep?
