There is (probably) a new movie coming, about The Hobbit, (the book which tells how Bilbo got the ring).

This question is of course matter of opinion, but if you are looking for mine I would unequivocally state that the books are far superior. I enjoy the movies, dont' get me wrong, but the books are simply better. But I've felt that is the case for most Book to Movie translations.
