Not having much more success with the anagram line either... I would guess it is a sound-alike, being as it is 'I am said to be', but I could be entirely wrong; besides, I can't think of anything that a 'southern cross' could possibly be. Giving off light = glowing = Gloin. Southern cross = ?!

I would agree with Perky, that cryptic clues belong, indeed, in Cryptic Clues. However, I am intrigued - and also now really rather frustrated!
