Aragorn would dress up as Rosie Cotton.

Rosie Cotton would dress up as the Ring.

The Ring would dress up as Tom Bomdadil.

Tom would dress up as Gimli.

Gimli would dress up as the Balrog.

The Balrog would dress up as Pippin.

Pip would dress up as Gandalf.

Gandalf would dress up as Shelob.

Shelob would dress up as Arwen.

Arwen would dress up as Elrond.

Elrond would dress up as Isildur.

Isildur would dress up as Ioreth.

Ioreth would dress up as Theoden.

Theoden would dress up as Tolkien.

Tolkien would dress up as Peter Jackson.

I think the 'whys' should be apparent.
