I'm a bit distressed by your rather absolutist tone here.
I could (and do) claim that he had a firm grasp of tone. Or is your "no one" restricted to a certain subset of the audience who have studied literature sufficiently? I certainly don't think that my view is priveliged and I certainly don't think that the work is flawless - but I also don't think that it's unreasonable to claim that there are no major flaws or that the prose is excellent.
