Looking very good....roll on December.

Just two quibbles. I'm not sure about the handling of the houses of healing sequence, what's all that with Aragorn walking away and Eowyn grabbing his arm?
And I can't help it, I just get annoyed when I see interviews with Elijah. READ THE BOOK, you airhead.....

Rimbaud has just left Hobbiton.
Good preview, that. For some reason, I don't consider the theatrical releases to be the proper movie any more, and I imagine that's as PJ intended it. However, there was still so much more he could have included (esp. SotS), if he had had a more judicious editor elsewhere.

How long is the EE anyway? And therefore, if one had, let's just say hypothetically , all the four disc sets, how long would the entire set be?

Wonders if anyone's going to be daft enough to work it out for me, so I don't have to look it up

I haven't looked (yet) and I'm not too sure if I will, but Eliana has stated that it includes the jouney to the croosroads. (one of my favourite bits from the entire LOTR) If PJ gets this bit right, it will be worth the £30 alone.........

Ka you'll need quicktime to see it. Also thw ebsite changes so sometimes the trailer is on the main page and sometimes it's on the pop-up that shows up when you first enter the site. I don't know if it's been like this for anyone else but just a little note.

But the appendices are something like 20 hours more! (Hahahahahaha!!!)

I'm so excited.

I've seen it. I've seen it!

I'm not ashamed to say I wept during one scene. It wasn't the crossroads scene that I mentioned above, but another.

You realise when you see these extended cuts that jackson & co really do GET IT: The piece I mean was their homage to:

Quote:
Frodo sighed and was asleep almost before the words were spoken. Sam struggled with his own weariness, and he took Frodo's hand; and there he sat silent till deep night fell. Then at last, to keep himself awake, he crawled from the hiding-place and looked out. The land seemed full of creaking and cracking and sly noises, but there was no sound of voice or of foot. Far above the Ephel Dúath in the West the night-sky was still dim and pale. There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach. His song in the Tower had been defiance rather than hope; for then he was thinking of himself. Now, for a moment, his own fate, and even his masters, ceased to trouble him. He crawled back into the brambles and laid himself by Frodo's side, and putting away all fear he cast himself into a deep untroubled sleep.
Marvelous

First quibble: That isn't in the Houses of Healing; it's in Eowyn's room in Edoras. If you look behind them, the architecture is definitely Rohirric, not Gondorean.

Second quibble: I completely agree. Not only that, he's a very verbose airhead.

Length of Movie: 250 minutes; or 4 hours and 10 minutes. That means the new scenes amount to approximately 50 minutes total. *green* And, as AbercrombieOfRohan said, the appendices are about 20 hours. w00t.

Essex, I agree with you on that. That was one of my favourite little scenes in the books. I'm glad PJ&Co. put it back in. ^_^

Rimbaud, I would think that you would need to set aside something like 12 hours to watch all the Extended Editions in one sitting.

I agree that the Extended Editions have replaced the theatrical releases as "the real films". Despite knowing that they would be superseded pretty quickly, I still couldn't help buying each of the theatrical releases on DVD when they came out.

Still, at least these Extended Editions do offer a lot more in return for the additional expense.

I still think the mouth of sauron looks silly. He seems to be too small and according to me he doesn't look frightening at all

Thumbs up Some laughs...

Wow! Awsome sneek preview... and some laughs...

For example when Boyd says, "Look how pretty i was..." Dominique gave him a doubtful look...

And, of course when saruman smacks grima...classic evil overlord to minion affection...

plus! I got to see boromir another time! Yay-ness! *Ka does victory dance... He looked ultra pretty, and with the classic-cannot- forget- deviant- grin. (I watched that four or five times... yes, i'm guilty! ) I wonder if Denethor has always thought that about him...

And when aragorn talks to sauron... it reminds me of how my friend threatens apple when his ipod breaks...Ah, so refreshing...

Lovely! Now i have to go and buy the dvd again! (I was smart and waited for the TT to come out on special edition... but, someone gave me RTK widescreen awhile back. It was sort of a thank you gift...)
