Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's an amazing story, with nary a plotting flaw or inconsistancy to be found. The characters are wonderful, and it presents moral lessons without being preachy or allegorical. It is captivating, well-written, and has one of the most involved histories and creations of any fictional location I have ever read.

I think it's a cause of frustration to them; they know that it is a mature, detailed, well-written piece of literature, and they also know that their mini-minds can't handle it. Ergo, they hate it (and us, incidentally) because of their inability to understand it. A rather immature way of dealing with things, actually.
