Can't say i agree with "Dawn take you all and be stone to you!" having any bearing on the clothes issue...saying"Dawn take you all and be stone to you, and your clothes!" is hardly very dramatic, and I actually can't imagine anyone saying it. For instance, when Gandalf tells of his fight with the Balrog, he says "I was burned" - presumably therefore his clothes were burned too (but that's for another thread!) but it's too...mundane...to be worth mentioning really.
