My favorite very important Elves, I would say, would have to be (well, King Thingol was important, of course), but my favorites of the important are Galadriel and Luthien. Coincidentally (pure coincidence), they are both female. Also, GW: the reason you don't know much about Dwarves: not much is written about them. They were very secretive people.

While my "favorite" Elf would be Legolas, I love all of them, especially Luthien and Galadriel. Galadriel more because she remembered the days of old and lived through all that strife. And I just love the story of Beren and Luthien (and Huan the hound! Yay!).
