Great isn't the same thing as good. Feanor was the only person skilled enough to create silma, and because of that creation the light of the trees will never die. Feanor created the tengwar, the main writing method of the elves for ever after, and also esteemed and used by men for a very long time. Those are some pretty great things. What did Elrond do?
