Fingolfin II has just left Hobbiton.
Half-elves (again!)

I was wondering, after Dior is slain what would happen to him and also Elured and Elurin? Would they die or stay in Mandos or what? Do you think they'd get a choice what kindred they are in or anything? I know there's a thread of half-elven mortality somewhere but it doesn't seem to address this issue.

I've thought of a similar question. If Dior hadn't been slain, would he have died after a hundred years or so like a man, or would he have lived on like the elves?

I think this has been discussed sometime before... under the thread: Eldarion...

I have something to add:
Wasn't Luthien half-elven?
Also, why do you think Manwe said that those with mortal blood would be mortal? Were elves and men not meant to marry in great numbers?
Perhaps it took extraordinary elves and men. Look at the examples.

Lutien was half elven, but since both parents were immortal, it had no consequence of her fate.
It was decreed that all those with mortal blood would be mortal, because mortality was a gift to men by Illuvatar, and that after death they would leave the world. All of those with mortal blood were given the gift and so were mortal.
Back to the original question, when Dior was slain, his spirit would have gone to the place all spirits of men go to. Same for his sons, they would not have gotten a choice to belong to what kindred to belong to as that choice was only given to Earendil, Elwing, Elros, Elrond and his children.
Nightknight: If Dior wasn't slain he would have died eventually like all men.

Voralphion, Dior was slain before Manwe made his decree. Therefore, he was neither elven nor human; he was simply quarterelven.
